New grafic card.......

I have 4 PC....... 2 of them are gamerpc's (3 years old)

first 1 of the 2's graficcard broke (Inno 8800 GTS), so i bought a new Nvidia GTX460TOP

3 weeks later the other 8800 GTS broke - i bought an additional GTX460TOP

The first one, is allready broken.....

The shop has offered me a new one, or the option to swop the 2 GTX460TOP to another card.

I have serched the internet, and ALOT of people hare having issues with the 400 series (and also the 500 series) - but aspecialy the 460 model.

So i need advises (from people that knows what they are talking about, not just gueses) - about what card i should choose instead of the GTX460TOP.

Also...if anyone knows a forum that i can ask this question, please leave a link :-)

My PC setup:
Intel 6600@2.40GHz
4 GB ram
WinXp

By the way........ I dident notice a performance increase from my 8800 to the 460 ! (i really was expecting that)

If I'm not mistaken bf2 & bf2142 has a max frame so that's maybe why you can't see any preformace gain. Not like bad company 2 where there isn't a max frame.

I myself have for several years been running with ati grafic cards and runs fine. Have also used GF over the years. But right now it's ati. Have also help a work m8 building a new pc recently he also uses ati and have recently begun to play bad company 2 online.

Hmmmm, I'm not quite sure what to say, but here it is.
First I still have and own an ATI graphics card.
In my apinion the GF cards have a slite bit of problems with there drivers, I mean, to run in a prober way you have to disable vertical refresh etc.
On a ATI card its only become switch on if the app. needs it to be on.
An other thing is that ATI delevers new drivers mutch faster to the users than GF. ( some times as ofent as 5 time to the GF drivesr )
At this moment ATI is the best selling cards worldwide .... if that is a count, I don't know, but they sell a lot of cards, and seem to be at the edge right now fore developing new tecnologi to it's graphics cards.

An other thing to be conciter is that your CPU can slow down performens in new games.
To be able to game some of them whitout loosing FPS drops, you need to have a 4 to 6 core CPU.
I know that Low some times have FPS props in BC2 on a 2 core CPU, and on the same time I haven't got any on a 4 core CPU.
But as Angel said's it depends on what ever the game have a max. frame or not.

By the way, you can try the forums at one of my favorite sites

If you have the money, i will go for xfx 6870 Black ED, or just the 6870. Nvida is to much money for less power, AMD is cheap and good.

Btw, Ati is now running under AMD, so they had changed all the name on the new products, all old xxxx number to 5870 is still with name ATI, but 6xxx is AMD, and with new power, as EyeFinity(multiscreen) max 4screen, and with some upgrade hardware config.

Go for 6870 black ED(black ED mean that it are clock from company).
6870
or 6850
and crossfire is allways good :thumb:
